PH | Vice President Sara honours President Marcos for assistance to the Davao Region | MANILA _ – The assistance extended to families impacted by landslides and flooding in Davao Region was acknowledged by Vice President Sara Duterte on Thursday. Duterte thanked President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
“Maraming salamat Pangulong Bongbong Marcos sa lahat ng tulong na ipinaabot mo sa mga apektadong lugar sa buong (Thank you very much President Bongbong Marcos for all the help that you have extended for the affected areas in the entire) Davao Region,” Duterte wrote on his social media accounts.
“Ang pangangalaga sa buhay at pangkalahatang kapakanan ng mga mamamayan ang dapat manatiling prayoridad (Concern for life and overall welfare of the people should always be the priority),” she further stated.
At the office of the Department of Public Works and Highways in Davao City on Wednesday, Duterte and President Marcos participated in a situation briefing regarding the repercussions of the shear line and low-pressure area.
As a means of providing financial assistance to the impacted residents, Marcos distributed checks totaling PHP130 million during the briefing.
Davao de Oro was allocated PHP30 million, followed by PHP30 million split among Davao del Norte, PHP30 million each for Davao Oriental and Davao Occidental, PHP20 million each, and PHP20 million each for Davao City.
Several governmental entities, including the Office of Civil Defence and the Department of Social Welfare and Development, provided updates on the humanitarian aid that the federal government has already extended to the impacted citizens during the briefing.
The region has suffered 27 fatalities as a result of landslides and floods, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council. Approximately 697,454 people, or 175,370 households, have been displaced, and 97,603 survivors are housed in evacuation centres.
