PH | A P200-M budget boost goes to the Philippine Orthopaedic Centre | MANILA – The Office of the President (OP) has given PHP200 million to the Philippine Orthopaedic Centre (POC). This money will keep the country’s best orthopaedic hospital running and help it buy cutting-edge equipment.
The Chief of the POC Medical Centre, Dr. Jose Pujalte Jr., sent a letter of acceptance and thanks to the OP. The Presidential Communications Office said that the financial help will help the 78-year-old secondary hospital handle a growing number of patients.
Pujalte said, “To get true universal health care, we need the vision of a leader, the dedication and expertise of the health workers, and the money to make it happen.”
“This is the time for the sick, hurt, and disabled Filipinos who need orthopaedic care,” Pujalte said, adding that the money will allow the hospital to treat more than 600 people every day.
He said that the extra money would let hospital managers buy buildings and equipment that are up to date.
He said that the extra money shows that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. meant what he said in his second State of the Nation Address about taking care of the health of orthopaedic patients and other people.
“Our hospital was named a national specialty centre for orthopaedics. That means it’s a centre of peak. It’s an apex hospital, and for us to get in, our tech needs to be modern and a little bit cutting-edge. So, that’s where we’re going, because Universal Health Care is being put into place right now,” he said. (via PNA)
