PH | 28 new appointments are made at the palace | MANILA — Saturday, Malacañang announced 28 new appointments by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., including two special envoys for expatriate Filipinos and to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for Trade and Investments.
The President appointed Eduardo Manalo, Executive Minister of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC), as Special Envoy for Overseas Filipino Concerns, the same position he held in 2018 under former president Rodrigo Duterte.
The INC, renowned for its bloc voting system, supported Marcos’ bid for president in the 2022 national elections and his vice presidential bid in 2016.
Among the newly designated officials was businessman Norman Vincent Wee, who was appointed Special Envoy for Trade and Investments to the UAE.
Grace Tan was appointed by Marcos as the new chairperson of the National Labour Relations Commission, an agency of the Department of Labour and Employment tasked with resolving labour and management disputes involving both local and foreign workers by means of compulsory arbitration and alternative modes of dispute resolution.
Other appointments include Jesus Ricardo Domingo as Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, Pablo Lorenzo as Undersecretary of Defence, Felix Castro Jr. as Presidential Assistant for Marawi Rehabilitation with the rank of Assistant Secretary, Nio Raymond Alvina as Assistant Secretary of Finance, and Wilson Buerano Jr. as deputy director general of the Philippine Information Agency.
Romeo Bernardo and Rosalia de Leon will serve as members of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ Monetary Board; Allan Montao will represent the labour sector as a member of the National Tripartite Industrial Peace Council; Cynthia Carrion will serve as a member of the Philippine Retirement Authority’s Board of Trustees; and Mark Bocobo will represent the national government as a member of the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority’s Board of Directors.
Saipal Alawi Jr., Grian Damarillos, Reparado Galos III, Rolando Lava, and Rahyll Saga were selected as provincial agrarian reform arbitrators.
Catherine Alam-Miranda and Jonathan Leybag were also appointed by Marcos to serve as Local Government Operations Officers VIII for the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
Reginald Rapanan will serve as Director IV for the Office of Transportation Security at the Department of Transportation, while Rowena Hizon, Miramel Laxa, Michael Joseph Lorico, and Christian Joseph Regunay will occupy the same positions at the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Marcos appointed Jacklyn Krystyl Nehama Bana as Director III of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Consolacion Agcaoili as Executive Director III of the Bureau of Local Government Finance, and Mark Anthony Diamante as Director III of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DSHUD).
