PH | Foreign Minister: Swiss companies keen to invest in PH | MANILA – According to Ignazio Cassis, a member of the Swiss Federal Council and the country’s foreign minister, Swiss companies are interested in investing in the Philippines.
Cassis said that doing business with the country is “much easier” now than it used to be while they were talking with Foreign Affairs Enrique Manalo individually.
He also said, “German and Swiss companies are becoming more interested in investing in this country.” “Since 2008, doing business between the Philippines and Switzerland has been much easier and more appealing thanks to the free trade deal that was signed between your country and the EFTA family (Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein).
According to him, Swiss companies have put money into the Philippines and created more than 28,000 good-paying jobs so far.
Cassis and Manalo decided to work together to make the Philippine-EFTA free trade deal fully effective during their meeting.
“Economic growth and modernization are happening at amazing rates in the Philippines right now.” According to Cassis, it’s important to take advantage of the chances that these changes bring.
The two officials talked about more than just business. They also talked about how Switzerland could continue to help the Philippines with its peaceful growth.
It was set up to carry out the peace deal in the Bangsamoro, and Switzerland led the Transitional Justice and Reconciliation Commission from 2014 to 2021.
What the two officials were also worried about was the “increasing geopolitical fragmentation” around the world.
A lot of things came up during their conversation, like the rising tensions in the South China Sea and Switzerland’s work to host a high-level meeting on peace in Ukraine as part of its role in the UN Security Council.
In addition to his public trips to India, South Korea, and China, Cassis’s last stop in the Asia-Pacific region was Manila.
As part of this trip, he said, the four countries could share their thoughts on the war in Ukraine and possible ways to bring about peace.
The organisation of a high-level meeting in Switzerland on peace in Ukraine needs their views on the war because of how important they are politically. (via PNA)
