PH | PH and Montenegro want to work together on tourism | MANILA – Malacañang said Friday that both the Philippines and Montenegro want to work together to boost their tourist industries.
On Thursday, Dritan Abazović, the prime minister of Montenegro, stopped by the Music Room of Malacañang Palace in Manila to say hello to Marcos.
During their meeting, Marcos told Abazović that the Philippines and Montenegro could learn from each other’s tourism practises, which would improve their relationships and help their economies.
He also talked about how important tourism is to the Philippines and how the two countries could learn from each other’s successful strategies for growing the business.
“Tourism has also become very important to the Philippines, and we see it as a big part of how the economy is changing, since it was zero during the pandemic. So now we have to build back,” Marcos said, according to a news release from the Presidential Communications Office.
Marcos was also hopeful that the Philippines would be able to get better after the plague.
Abazović told Marcos that he was doing a good job of trying to bring more tourists and businessmen to the Philippines.
So, he said, “I want to congratulate you, and I’m sure you’ll play a very, very important role in travelling and inviting people to visit you.”
Abazović is in the Philippines to watch Friday afternoon’s FIBA game between Montenegro and the United States.
Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Enrique Manalo, Presidential Adviser on Foreign Affairs and Chief of Presidential Protocol Secretary Adelio Angelito Cruz, Honorary Consul of Montenegro in the Philippines Maria Vanessa Pastor-Ledesma, and other officials from the DFA Office of European Affairs were all there when Abazović met with Marcos.
On September 26, 2009, the Philippines and Montenegro formed diplomatic ties.
On December 12, 2018, the Honorary Consulate of Montenegro in Manila was officially opened.(via PNA)
