PH | Western Mindanao will get a new Army gun unit to help with security | MANILA – The 11th Field gun Battalion (FAB) is a new gun unit that the Philippine Army (PA) has turned on as part of its efforts to improve its firepower in Western Mindanao.
Col. Xerxes Trinidad, a PA spokesman, said in a statement on Wednesday that the 11FAB was activated on Tuesday at Fort Magsaysay in Palayan City, Nueva Ecija.
The Army Artillery Regiment (AAR) is made up of the 11FAB.
“The 11FAB will be sent to the provinces in Western Mindanao to help with the overworked and too-large field artillery units in that area,” he said.
Overstretched units have too many tasks, while oversized units have more people than they are allowed to have.
Trinidad also said that PA chief Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido, who was at the activation ceremonies, praised the unit “for its remarkable initiatives in making the AAR a reliable, responsive, relevant, and mission-oriented PA unit.”
As this was going on, the AAR also opened the new building for the Artillery Training School’s administration and the mess hall for its repair and service battalion.
“The newly opened facilities are meant to give AAR employees a good place to learn, which will boost their morale and well-being and help them do their jobs better,” Trinidad said. (via PNA)
